Wymondham Central Hall

Wymondham Central Hall is a community facility in Back Lane, next to the town’s new library. Along with the adjacent car park, it is owned by a Charitable Trust whose objects are to provide a “community centre for the use of the inhabitants of Wymondham and the surrounding area, for use for meetings, classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the quality of life for the said inhabitants”.

The Hall was built in 1965 after an eight year campaign to raise funds. It has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The hall now boasts a new reception/bar area and toilets with accessible facilities. The revamped kitchen area adjacent to the bar is fitted with a range cooker and various other resources. A new ground source heat pump heating system, combined with extensive insulation, ensures that the hall is always comfortable. With solar panels to provide electricity, a sophisticated ventilation system and modern efficient lighting, the hall has excellent green credentials. The new look to the outside elevations, has helped to create a modern feel, to this much-used community hall.

The hall is run by a Management Committee, made up of a small group of volunteers. These Trustees comprise of elected members and representative members from user groups and local organisations. The committee employs a Hall Manager, Mike Breame, who is responsible for the day to day running of the hall and for looking after all bookings and enquiries.
